And so it begins...

After packing late into the night, we were ready to catch our flight from Boston to LA...

Well, apart from only getting 2 hours of sleep between the two of us, we hit our first travel snafu. We made it on-time from Boston to LA, which was good. We then decided to head to the Air New Zealand desk to get our seats for the flight to Fiji. Please note that just "heading" to the Air NZ desk took about 40 minutes since directions varied depending whom we asked. The original plan was to get seats then explore LA for a few hours (since we have a 10 hour layover!!). We waited about 40 minutes for the Air New Zealand desk to open. While doing so, we stared at the following sign...

uhhh, that's not cool :( Anyways, we decided good seats were worth the risk. However, when we finally got to speak to the Air NZ agent, we were informed that there was no Air NZ flight to Fiji and we were booked on their "codeshare airline" Air Pacific. Great. Sooo we just wandered around 3 Terminals to find this mythical (read: cancerous) Air NZ desk and they can't even help us?!? #%&*$@! Needless to say, I left the desk ranting and disturbing the group of teenage girls in line for their trip to London....Justin was quiet. (Side note: What is Air NZ doing flying from LA to London?) We then learned that the Air Pacific desk wouldn't open for 4 hours. We could have done some things in the city, but the concept of not having seats for an 11 hours flight was slightly disconcerting.

While waiting, we decided to review other itineraries and tighten up the flight home. Low and behold the cost of a ticket from Bangkok to Boston doubled within 2 days. Dammit. Anyways, loooong story short, we are now returning to the US on March 2nd instead of Feb 26th. This will probably only be the beginning of "go with the flow" situations. Hopefully we (i.e. I) become more patient as time goes on!

Now to figure out what to do with those extra 5 days in Thailand...
